We draw support from nature and the forest for children's development. Outdoor experiences are an integral part of our education. By using the outdoor education model as much as possible, we embrace students, emphasize the discovery approach, and support them to be open to diverse experiences. Our goal is not to teach knowledge directly, but to enable them to make connections between objects and events, explore and identify the environment.
Forest school is a long-term process involving regular and long-term sessions rather than one-time visits to forested areas or natural environments. Planning, adaptation, observation, and investigation are integral elements of forest school. Forest school is conducted regularly on Fridays throughout the academic year with the same group of students.
In Forest School methodology, light, shadow, wind, and seasons are active teachers. As children track shadows outdoors, their spatial thinking, coordination, and visual perception are strengthened. Discovering how a tree's shadow changes throughout the day enables understanding the direction of the sun and recognizing the rhythm of nature.
These experiences expand children's imagination while strengthening their safe and loving bond with nature. At Forest Kids, learning begins with the play of light; it continues with discovery, curiosity, and the magic of nature.
